Biography

Jean-Luc Bertel is born on august 15th 1955 at Tournai in Belgium and grew up at Kortrijk, where he attended the local school of music.
He continued his musical studies at the royal conservatory of Ghent and obtained certificates for horn, harmony, counterpoint and fugue.
In 1976 he joined the Belgian military bands. He combined this function with a parttime job in musical instruction.
In 1989 he was promoted bandmaster. In september 2005 he became the conductor of the Royal Belgian Air Force Band. www.airforceband.be
Beside orchestral and choral music, he also composes works for musical instruction.

In January 1997, he became the choirleader of "Crescendo", a choir from Kortrijk-Rollegem. From september 2000 to february 2005 he charged himself with the conductorship of the choir Ars Vocalis Kortrijk.
